Nurturing Nature: The Clean Annapolis River Project's Journey
In the heart of Annapolis County, the Clean Annapolis River Project (CARP) quietly works its magic to foster ecologically healthy watersheds. This charitable, community-based, non-governmental organization, incorporated in 1990, has a profound vision and an unyielding mission.

A Glimpse into History:
CARP's journey began in 1990, brought to life by two seemingly unrelated events:
Heritage River Rejection: The Annapolis River system's rejection as a heritage river candidate.
Scientific Spotlight: Its selection by the scientific community as a demonstration site for an innovative environmental management initiative.
These events would become the foundation upon which CARP stands today. The organization's invitation to participate in the Atlantic Coastal Action Program (ACAP), an Environment Canada Green Plan initiative until 2010, was a pivotal moment in their history.
Since their inception, CARP has meticulously developed a range of projects addressing critical environmental issues within the Annapolis River watershed. From environmental monitoring to public education, habitat restoration, and home assessments, their work knows no bounds.
Although their core mission is the improvement of the local environment, many of their projects have extended their positive impact beyond the watershed, touching on economic, societal, and health-related aspects.
The Clean Annapolis River Project's legacy isn't just about nurturing nature; it's about fostering a community that is informed, engaged, and passionate about preserving the beautiful Annapolis River watershed. This is a story of commitment, collaboration, and the enduring power of environmental stewardship.
